Researchers tested whether arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) inoculation could improve plant performance under saline conditions and how phosphorus (P) concentration affects plant responses.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"613\" data-end=\"661\">Effects of Salinity and Phosphorus on Growth<\/h3><p data-start=\"663\" data-end=\"962\">Zucchini plants grew in sand culture with two salinity levels (1 and 35 mM NaCl, 1.8 and 5.0 dS m\u22121) and two phosphorus concentrations (0.3 and 1 mM P). Salinity reduced yield and shoot biomass. However, plants at 0.3 mM P showed smaller reductions, indicating some <strong data-start=\"929\" data-end=\"959\">alleviation of salt stress<\/strong>.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1014\">Benefits of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Inoculation<\/h3><p data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1372\">AM (+AM) plants performed better than non-inoculated (\u2212AM) plants under saline conditions. They had higher yield, shoot biomass, leaf chlorophyll content, and relative water content. In addition, +AM plants accumulated more potassium (K) and less sodium (Na) in leaves. These changes contributed to <strong data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1337\">salt stress relief<\/strong> and better overall plant health.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"1374\" data-end=\"1413\">Nutrient Balance and Salt Tolerance<\/h3><p data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1690\">Phosphorus levels in leaves were similar between +AM and \u2212AM plants, suggesting that AM benefits did not rely solely on P uptake. Instead, mycorrhizal plants improved water retention and maintained better ion balance. Consequently, they tolerated salinity more effectively.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"1692\" data-end=\"1706\">Conclusion<\/h3><p data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1969\">AM inoculation supports zucchini growth in saline conditions by enhancing water status, nutrient balance, and physiological performance.
