Al igual que el Fe, forma complejos altamente estables y participa en reacciones de transferencia de electrones. m\u00e1s del 98% del Cu en las plantas est\u00e1 presente en formas complejas y las concentraciones de Cu2+ y Cu+ libres son extremadamente bajas en el citoplasma.
